I am currently working at the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) as a specialist in content area literacy and gifted education. Providing webinars, professional development at state and local levels and tiered support in the schools is part of my job description. I was previously the elementary science specialist for the department. As the 2016 Florida PAEMST Awardee for Elementary Science I am passionate about the integration of literacy and STEM at the elementary level (and higher). I am collaborating with Thompson Earth Systems Institute (TESI) to "advance communication and understanding of current research discoveries about Earth's natural systems- air, water, land, and life" through their Scientist in Every Florida School "moonshot" project funded by NSF. My work with gifted coordinators across the state is helping to build numbers of gifted endorsed teachers and content capacity to increase achievement for students.
