Cynthia O. Anhalt is Associate Research Professor and Director of Secondary Mathematics Education in
the Department of Mathematics at The University of Arizona. Research and publications focus on
mathematics teacher education with emphases on mathematical modeling and development of teaching
practices for inclusion, equity, and social justice. Principal Investigator on multiple
National Science Foundation (NSF) projects that provide professional development opportunities for
prospective and practicing teachers in mathematics education to expand their experiences in mathematical
modeling and to deepen and broaden their mathematical knowledge for teaching, especially in teaching
culturally diverse student populations.
