Juliana Thomas is a biologist and educator, born in Colombia, South America. After living 10 years in USA she became an American Citizen, as well. She has been teaching in middle school and high school for 33 years, 20 of those years at The Exploris School in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Her love for biology and education has developed her passion for Citizen Science in the Classroom, where she can put these two disciplines together in action with her students. In 2014 Juliana became a Kenan Fellow, and was part of the first cohort of the Students Discover group designing citizen science lessons with scientists at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. She was also the 2016 Science PAEMST (Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching) awardee. Her goal is to continue learning more every single day; that is the joy of life and education.
