Ruth is an adjunct at Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, and is the Milken Educator National Coordinator for the MEA National Listserv. She is the Head Reviewer for the NSTA Shell Science Lab Challenge Competition. Ruth served as the 2018-19 Chair of the NSTA Shell Teacher Award Committee. She will be serving on the Shell Teaching Award Committee in 2019-20. Ruth is the NSTA Audit Committee past chair. Ruth co-authored “Teaching STEM Literacy” published by Redleaf Press in 2018. Prior to her retirement, Ruth was an elementary administrator in Millcreek Township School District( MSTD) in Erie, PA. Previously, she was the grant coordinator/special projects for the Millcreek Township School District. She was also a science teacher at Walnut Creek Middle School. During her tenure at Walnut Creek, Ruth worked with 12 local industries to develop the Science Industry Partnerships, which enabled students in grades two through seven to explore science topics through hands-on activities and real-life applications and settings, preparing for a future in a global technological world. Ruth also created Super Science Saturday, a science fair for more than 300 students and adults, with shadowing opportunities and hands-on activities involving university and industrial scientists. In 1993, the National Science Foundation honored Ruth with a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching.
