Sarah Reeves Young, Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Utah State Board of Education

Sarah Young is a leader in the state effort to bring next generation learning to Utah’s public schools. Her work leading the state’s Digital Teaching and Learning team has developed into a statewide vision and initiative. Young has ensured this initiative is centered in creating learning environments that foster 21st century skills in Utah’s students. Young has directed this initiative through collaborative efforts with local education leaders in establishing tailored plans for digital and personalized learning that fits each community’s needs. Young’s leadership has also resulted in improving the pre-service and in-service technology education of Utah’s teachers through coordination with colleges, universities, and other educational institutions. Young’s passion for personalized learning has fostered her active engagement in several other roles working with: K-12 Computer Science for All, Open Education Resource Development, and Competency Based Learning. Young is dedicated to creating more opportunities for digital and personalized learning and looks forward to fostering new and innovative ways to continue Utah’s path forward in these efforts.
