I'm Selene Verhofstad and I'm currently teaching Pre-AP Chemistry to Early College students. Interest in early colleges and dual credit students has led me to study this as part of Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. I'm hoping to graduate December 2020 or May 2021 depending on my data collection process. Through the Rice University Office of STEM Engagement and the various programs they offer teachers, I've been able to grow as a teacher every year. I'm learning about teaching strategies and student learning that has helped me teach differently so that I can reach all students. As part of a Noyce TLISST Fellow, I will continue to grow as a teacher leader and make an impact in science at my campus.
