I love this video and in particular hearing both faculty and student voices. It seems like you are creating a very rich inquiry based culture that is permeating through the school. What PD have you provided to faculty to make this happen? Kudos to you and all your teachers!

We have offered multiple PD for the different programming, PLTW (Project Lead the Way) Pre Engineering and BioMedical, Fab Foundation has provided PD around the design process and inquiry.  Over the past 5 years we have PD our teachers in inquiry learning  and PBL (Project Based Learning). We recently PD  our elective teachers  (Art, Physical Education, Music ...ect) on transdisciplinary strategies and offer time for collaboration.  The goal for STEAM in our district is for it to be accessible to all.

I'm so impressed by your maker space and all the activities you provide for your students.  It looks like your entire faculty has embraced your STEM mission.  Your students are very lucky to have to many rich activities to engage in every day.  Do you use a engineering design process for you engineering projects or do you just let them build?  Thank you for sharing this.

Teaching STEAM is a different mindset and you have it! I often think of it as one an ocean and you can flow in on any tributary in (science, tech, engineering, art, math) and once in the center, as stated in this video, you find there is not only ONE way or option to look at things. Once established, this flows into the culture of the school then to life.

Do you have a STEAM fair in a gymnasium where students come up to a station and observe and/or try a process out? It looked like that in some pics but not sure.

We also have PLTW program here in my district in central NY (not in elementary unfortunately but only in junior and senior high) and love the curriculum but I also highly recommend Tufts University's Online program Teachers Teach Engineering Education Program (TEEP) I personally gained so much insight into their research and LEGO Mindstorm lessons on student thinking. It resonates within me daily. Check it out and contact me if you have any questions.

Keep STEAMING!

Thank you for the resources, yes we have a winter and spring fair each year. With stations, student work, our CTE programs and community partners.  We are using many avenues to lead and expose ALL to STEAM.

Thanks for sharing your work.  I was glad to read that teachers in all disciplines are included.  I’d like to know more about the mobile innovation lab (websites, how to implement).

Thank you.

How inspirational to see all the student AND teacher engagement!  I loved the unified messages and the voices of all involved.  Have you found it difficult to get funding?  Is your school a STEAM school, or is STEAM a program/force driving the curriculum?

Good evening

We are not a STEM/STEAM designated school district. Our district is working towards an integrated approach to STEM//STEAM. Aligning with all subject core teachers and offering courses and opportunities pre-k thru 12 has been essential in the alignment.

When it comes to funding, integration into already existing programs and curriculum has afforded the pathway to offer these opportunities to All scholars on the others hand , we have been awarded some significant grants and are always on the look out for more in the pursuit of sustainability.

again thank for taking the time watch our video.

Greetings,

I love to know how would you integrate engineering in your program and what type of problem do you give your students to solve.

Good Evening

we are currently introducing our scholars to the Engineer Design process as early as K and continuing through grade 5. We are implementing the PLTW.

Our teachers have received training and out STEAM teachers leads the work. PLTW is also used Grades 6 through 12, and the school who takes a more in depth interest in Engineering they are able to go into a CTE pathway.

Great questions, hope this answers your questions,

Thank you for watching our video.
