Jose Rivas and a group of teacher leaders at his school created a literacy framework to support a more focused approach to literacy and reading instruction using researched based strategies that are aligned with ELD standards, NGSS and the California EL Roadmap. The key is developing teacher ownership/leadership for implementing the framework and developing rich lessons that support all students to learn and love science and engineering.

Jerod Morehouse and a team of teachers at Timberline High School, in Boise, ID share their motivation for and results of using student self-assessment in their classes. This shift from a teacher telling students what they know and what they don't know to students determining what their level of understanding is has had a huge impact on student agency and efficacy.

In this video, Kirstin Milks reflects on her teaching practice. "When I started teaching high school science, I thought I knew best how my classroom could tackle the politicization of climate change — but it turned out my students were the ones who educated me!"

In this video, Gloria Kreischer Gajewicz reflects on her teaching practice. "By utilizing Modeling Instruction methodology, I have transformed my science classroom to be more inclusive, more inquiry-based and more robust."
