I am a math and computer science teacher at Horace Mann UCLA Community School in South LA and has worked there for 3 years. I am a Math for America Fellow and founder of Leadership Education and Algebraic Development (LEAD).
I am currently a professor in the teacher education department and co-director for the MAT in STEM Education program at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. I am also the Retiring President (19-20) for the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA).
I am a National Board Certified Teacher, a Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, and a Senior Fellow at the Knowles Teacher Initiative, where I am an editor-in-chief of the journal Kaleidoscope: Educator Voices and Perspectives. I hold a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Stanford.
