In this 60-minute webinar, moderated by Jill Harrison Berg, discover how educators are collaborating within the Boston Public Schools and the Waltham Public Schools to leverage technology and teacher leadership in support of remote learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Moderator:
Jill Harrison Berg is the author of Leading in Sync: Teacher Leaders and Principals Working Together for Student Learning (ASCD, 2018). Her monthly column, “Leading Together,” in ASCD’s Educational Leadership, aims to heighten leaders’ attention to the complementary roles that teacher leaders and administrators can play as they co-perform leadership to improve their schools.
Panelists:
Suzana Somers is the Administrator of Educational Technology Integration for the Waltham Public Schools. She joined Waltham in 2019 after working as an Elementary Teacher in Texas, Technology Specialist, and Director of Instructional Technology. Suzana serves on the Communications Committee of MassCUE, the state’s leading organization for educational technology.
Mike Sabin is a parent of a Massachusetts 10th grade student and Principal of the McDevitt Middle School in Waltham. He was previously a middle school and K-8 principal in Boston and Somerville. Prior to that he worked as a teacher and administrator in Cambridge and Lawrence. Over the years he has been most involved in working to strengthen teaming and teacher leadership at the middle school level, extended day learning, dual language education and Early Warning Indicator systems.
Mark Racine is the Chief Information Officer for the Boston Public Schools. Mark joined the Boston Public Schools in 2007 as a classroom teacher before joining the central administration in 2012. Mark serves on the Governance Board for the Ed-Fi Alliance, the National Advisory Council for Cybersecurity, and the peer review team for the Council of Great City Schools
Haruna Hosokawa serves as the Program Director for STEM and Robotics Initiatives at Boston Public Schools Technology Department. Formerly a mechanical engineer, she has been with BPS for over 10 years. Haruna is also a parent of two BPS students.
